“Enjoy life and share it with one another — on and around the water.”

“Water, freedom and stories — that’s who we are.”

Who We Are

We are an active and entrepreneurial family with a great passion for watersports, cycling and the outdoors. With years of experience working offshore, we know what hard work means — but we also know how important it is to enjoy life, each other’s company and the nature around us.

Our hearts belong to the water, to adventure and to sharing memorable moments. That’s why we decided to combine our love for the Zaan, its rich history and boating with our dream of becoming entrepreneurs. And that’s how Varende Verhalen came to life. Varende Verhalen — a place where good company, activity and culture come together.

What makes us unique is our personal approach. Whether you join us to relax, discover a little history or simply enjoy a wonderful day on the water, we make sure you feel welcome. We love sharing our knowledge and passion for the region and making sure you step off the boat with a smile.

Come aboard, join us and discover the stories of the Zaan with us!

Our Boat – Wille

Our adventure takes place on the water, and of course, it wouldn’t be possible without a special boat. Meet Wille, our traditional 1950 cargo boat. A sturdy steel vessel full of character, built for life on the river.

The Name Wille is Frisian and means joyfulness or pleasure — exactly what we want to share with everyone who steps aboard. At 8.70 metres long and 3 metres wide, she offers plenty of space for a relaxed boat trip. With an air draft of just 105 cm, she can glide effortlessly beneath low bridges, while her draught of 50 cm means that even shallower waters are no problem.

De aandrijving komt van een klassieke Lister SR2 The boat is powered by a classic Lister SR2 twin-cylinder diesel engine — reliable and powerful, with its distinctive sound that every enthusiast will recognise. No need to rush; simply cruise at a relaxed pace and enjoy the surroundings and the moment.

Wille is more than just a boat to us she is a symbol of freedom, connection and joy. A floating place where memories are made and stories come to life.
